The food concept for healthy life on the kitchen of europe
Food culture is about caring about the food we eat. The signs that we have stopped caring are everywhere – the rise in obesity and diet-related illnesses, the loss of life skills we need to cook and grow our own food and be in control of what we eat.
During the projects meetings among partner countries we will organize the workshops, the exhibitions and cooking demonstrations for this purpose. We want to learn about the food culture in other countries but also we want to shape and to disseminate the healthy life nutrition habits to adult learners.
The FCHLKEU project challenges a growing culture where people are distanced from food production and settle for low grade, nutritionally poor food whilst being unaware of the food choice they can and could be making that might benefit themselves and the planet. We need to make food a priority in the modern society and involve schools, homes and communities and develop practical food skills across generations.
We need to inspire and educate young and adult people to eat healthily by giving them an opportunity to understand the issues, to evaluate their choices, to know how food is produced and to experience growing and cooking at first hand.
Food has the power to unite communities, and so at the heart of our project there is a desire to create a meaningful partnership between European countries among their kitchens, schools, families and the wider community so that healthy food becomes a reality for all.
Throughout the project we will develop a wiki site (means of working online) which reflect the tasks for each partner and the activities in each of the partner institutions.
